The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council is an independent body formed to develop, enhance, disseminate, and assist with implementation of security standards for payment account security, including credit card processing. NOVA merchant services is a member of the PCI Security Standards Council which was founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and VISA International.

The PCI Security Standards Council has devised a Data Security Standard (DSS) for merchant services. The PCI DSS requirements are applicable if a Primary Account Number (PAN), when performing credit card processing, is stored, processed, or transmitted. An example of a DSS requirement is that the CVV2 number from the back of a credit card can not be stored after the credit card processing is complete.

AmbironTrustWave is offering NOVA merchant services customers the opportunity to assess their risk of susceptibility to a data compromise. This is in an effort to achieve compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards for all merchants performing credit card processing.
